Much of America’s forests and wilderness landscapes are preserved under titles that are not official “National Park” designations but which are still under the purview of the National Park Service. These designations afford much-needed protections for such wilderness, and Katahdin Woods And Waters National Monument is a great example of one such wilderness. Because it is a national monument, visitors can fish, hunt, and snowmobile in the park, activities that would be restricted in other parks. The iconic landscape spans 87,563 acres of mountains and forestland in northern Penobscot County, Maine, including a section of the East Branch Penobscot River. To celebrate the paths less traveled in national recreation areas (these places receive far fewer visitors than National Parks), Anderson Design Group poster artists hand- rendered an original illustration in the fashion of vintage poster art and travel art. This retro design and original National Park art is available as a poster, print, canvas, mini canvas, metal sign, notecard, or postcard.
